The aim of this project was to create an improved website where the client could could sell their artwork and resources to their customer base. The designs combined the client's need for a new fresh look with a theme light in colour which oppposed their previously very dark site. The website is quite image and product heavy, all of the images used for backgrounds and for the products were created by the client.
The website was built using WordPress, a common industry tool for building sites, it provides a large variety of flexibility when it comes to functionality and design. Using a range of my skills I developed the site with an existing theme, alongside some custom code, and used WooCommerce to power the E-Commerce functionalities of the site.
My primary involvement in this project was the development and launch of the website. The website was built using WordPress, a common industry tool for building sites, it provides a large variety of flexibility when it comes to functionality and design. Using a range of my skills I developed the site with a blank theme and used custom post types to create the different elements on the site like the case studies, articles and careers.
When developing a website, I always have to consider how the site will look on a mobile device, since this is where the vast majority of web browsing now takes place. Because I usually don’t receive mobile designs from the designers within my job role, it often means I have the creative freedom for the mobile design of the site, although I generally try to keep as close to the desktop designs as possible to keep the cohesion between the desktop and mobile design.

view siteMy main involvement in this project was the website development, which took place using OctoberCMS, a common industry tool built using the Laravel PHP platform. OctoberCMS allows the user to write their own HTML code inside it’s editor making it extremely powerful and versatile, it also supports plugins, many of which are built by the platforms users and are available to install through the backend of the CMS or from the OctoberCMS website.
My other involvement in this project working alongside one of my colleagues was photography. The client required us to photograph several scenes/items across several trips to the café/farm, on the first visit we photographed most of the images of the children playing in the new, custom built, play area which required consent from all parents present, other trips consisted of images of the building, farm animals and available food.

My other involvement in this project working alongside one of my colleagues was photography and video. The photography for this project was mostly based around the building and its grounds as well as some product images, for example brochures designed and printed by the company.
The video for the project was created for marketing purposes and was also focused around the building and grounds, the video additionally included shots of the team working throughout the office.
view siteThis project started as a small logo design project for a new company run by a recently graduated friend. The client requested a logo to begin with so we sat together and discussed some rough ideas relating to the field, the client chose to go down the route of movement with a figure performing some kind of sport. After providing several iterations of figures performing various sports the client chose the running figure as it is something they enjoy themselves.
After the development of the logo the client requested designs for business cards featuring the new logo and some of their contact information. The business cards, much like the logo, were created in Adobe Illustrator with constant feedback from the client, the business cards were approved by the client and sent to print the same day.
Since having the business cards printed the client has created a Facebook page to attract business, there has been discussion of designing ad campaigns for Facebook and work has begun on a website for the client.
The aim of this project was to create a website where the client could showcase images from the local area of their holiday home and have a way that people could contact them. The designs combined the small-scale content style of their competitors with the light accent coloured theme the client had requested. The website is quite image-heavy, all of the images were taken from free online sources such as Pexels and Pixabay, however the client will be hiring a photographer soon to capture some more images for the site so that no all of the images are stock images.
The development of the website took place using the development tool Atom. There are a number of JavaScript plugins in use throughout the website including, jQuery, jQuery Flexslider and Modernizr, these plugins along with animate.css, a css library help to create animations for the content sliding on screen when the user scrolls to a specific point on the page and they are also in use at the top of the page to create a slider showcasing a few local images. Another CSS library in use is Bootstrap, possibly the most used CSS library in the world it is easy to use and helps to create a responsive website.
The designs for the campaign created in Adobe Photoshop using images taken from Red Bull’s Content Pool which provides images for editorial use. Although it has huge iconic and brand value I chose to move away from the ‘gives you wings’ slogan to allow more freedom when relating the campaign to summer, I instead came up with my own slogan which is “every summer has its own story” this was picked from a few options such as “bring summer to you” and “bold colour, bigger flavour” however I felt that the chosen tag line best suited the idea of how everyone perceives summer differently, this is why when the designs started I was using images of snowboarders and winter sports, however after getting feedback I chose to also include a bigger range of sports as the main feedback was that just using the winter images may be slightly confusing to some.
The images for this ad campaign were designed to fit into 2 of the most popular social media in the world, Facebook and Instagram, they are shown here mocked up on both of these platforms. These mockups were created using a Photoshop file however it would also have been possible to mock these up in Facebook’s Creative Hub, this would also have allowed the ads to be transferred to Facebook’s Ad Manager to be set live, however I thought this was unnecessary as the images aren’t going to be in use by Red Bull and if they were it would need to be done under Red Bull’s account.
